Today is the last day at Liberty before we welcome Ashley, Megan, Hannah, Becky and Turner to their new classes on the first day of school. That is exciting!
I am very excited to be a part of your first year of teaching. It is going to be a amazing year full of many ups and downs. Know that there are many of us here to help you get through both.
When I was about to begin my first year teaching I was most excited about having MY OWN classroom. It would be mine to decorate, organize, and manage. On the flip side, this was also the thing that scared me most.
There are so many things I am excited about as I prepare for next year. I am thrilled to have my own classroom to decorate and organize however I would like. Some parts of student teaching were difficult only because routines and procedures were already set in place- so I am excited to establish my own routines in my classroom! I am looking forward to reading ‘The First Days of School’ again this summer to help me prepare my routines and procedures in my classroom.
While I am really excited about the planning/preparing aspect before school begins, I am really most excited about meeting my students. Substituting in 1st grade at Liberty at the end of the school year made me realize that the students I was substituting for could be MY students next fall! How exciting is that?!? I am thrilled about meeting my kids in the fall, getting to know them as individuals, and learning and growing together!
I too am so excited to be part of your first year of teaching, ladies! You'll find those feelings of excitement on meeting your kiddos and decorating your room will pop back up every September, even as an experienced teacher! I always get butterflies before I meet my class and every year it's fun to make some changes and try out new things. That's one of my favorite things about teaching: you get a "do-over" and start out fresh every year!
Today I was at Wal-Mart and I had my first "back-to-school" sighting! I was so excited to see all the glue, colored pencils, and post-it's on display! Its getting so close! :)
Also today, I was writing "Eno" on a bunch of scissors that I inherited from my Mom, and it hit me --- I'm going to have my own classroom. Of course I'd realized this before today, but for some reason as I was labeling all those scissors it became real for me. That is what I am most excited about, having my own classroom. Just like Ashley mentioned, in student teaching I was "in charge" but it wasn't MY classroom. I can't wait to set up my own routines and to have everything organized and decorated in order to create a positive learning environment for my students. I'm also really excited to meet all of my students and to begin building a community and relationships with each of them. I'm sure both my students and I will grow a lot this year!
Please know that if you want to get into your classroom a bit early you can Megan. They are cleaning hallways this week and it will be all set by Monday, July 29th.
I am so excited to be able to continue working with the wonderful Liberty team! I have been in California for the last month and spending most of my time pinning and thinking about things I want to incorporate in my first classroom. I have had the wonderful opportunity to sub for many great teachers and have seen so many wonderful, inviting, and fun classrooms. I think I am most excited about having one to make my own. I completely understand how Megan feels! I have always known that I would one day have my own classroom, but it is a different feeling when it is actually only a few months away! I truly cannot wait to start decorating and completing my classroom that I will be able to call my own. I am also very excited to start the year with a group of students. I have never had the opportunity to spend an entire school year with the same group of students! Spending a full year with all of these children is going to be so wonderful! I am anxious and excited to become familiar with each of the children in my class. I can't wait to watch them grow and learn throughout the year and know that I took part in that! As we are getting closer, I am becoming more and more excited!
We are really excited to see all that you can do if we actually gave you the whole year to prepare. I have not seen a teacher assimilate as easily as you did last year in both first and second grades.
You are going to love setting everything up. Come in anytime you'd like after July 29th. The rooms will be ready.
I am getting so excited, as school draws closer, to be a teacher within my own classroom! As many before have said, the idea of having my own classroom is so exciting and new, and it is turning out to be such a different feeling now that it is happening rather than knowing it would eventually happen! I have spent much of July moving from Charlottesville to Newport News to (finally!) my new apartment in Ashburn, and, now that things are starting to settle, I am beginning to see all of the pieces and things I have for my own classroom! I was lucky to have a mentor teacher during student teaching that allowed me to have a lot of input, for example with how to set up the classroom and what it should look like, but now having my own space I feel so ready to create a classroom that is all my own! I cannot wait for things to start getting my first year of teaching underway, but I am also so excited to just become a member of the Liberty family!
We are excited to have you join the Liberty family! I'm glad that you have finally arrived in Ashburn, and are ready to start creating your own space! I find that each year as I set up my classroom, I get so excited to meet the students! Also, it is fun to work on a team that shares ideas and inspires each other! I can't wait to hear all your fun new ideas!
